MINISTRY OF TOURISM

Welcome From The Minister Of Tourism

I am delighted to welcome you to the official website of the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Cambodia, with its unparalleled cultural heritage and tropical ecology, is once again enjoying a resurgence of interest amongst foreign travelers looking to savour the essence of Indochina.

At the top of any list of places to visit in Cambodia is the Angkor complex of ancient temples in the province of Siem Reap. Here more than 400 square kilometers are dotted with the cultural remnants of the Khmer civilization. The most famous of these sites is Angkor Wat, the world?s largest religious monument and truly one of the architectural wonders of the world.

Cambodia sits on the Gulf of Thailand and so you will find many unspoilt beaches as well as coral islands basking just offshore in the warm tropical sea. A day at the beach can be followed by a sumptuous meal of fresh seafood at an Oceanside restaurant. Cambodia can also boast many rivers offering unique tourist experiences and for those who want to get close to nature our forest reserves and parks offer hikers the opportunity to enjoy luxuriant flora.

The people of Cambodia enjoy many festivals that reflect our culture and religion, and the foreign visitor is always welcome to share the occasion. Cambodians pride themselves on their genuine hospitality.

In the capital city of Phnom Penh you will find the National Museum housing a priceless collection of Angkorian antiquities and nearby the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda are ?must-sees? on any tourist?s itinerary.

For those with a passion for shopping there are many markets offering a selection of exquisite handicrafts including woven silks, silverware, carvings in stone and wood and precious gems.

On behalf of all Cambodians I look forward to welcoming you to our beloved Kingdom and I am sure that you will enjoy your stay in our country.

Best wishes

Dr. Thong Khon
Minister
